LANCIA LAMBDA
On March 15th 1921, Vincenzo Lancia instructed his technical design staff to investigate ways of building a completely new car based on his 1919 patented monocoque design with independent front suspension and a narrow vee engine. The Lambda introduced to the public at the 1922 Paris Salon was indeed a technical masterpiece: "The Best Medium Powered Car in the World" says 1925 Lambda advertisement. "Not built to a price but as a masterpiece of advanced design and engineering skill - to satisfy the most discriminating Motorist who demands the utmost in quality, appearance and performance". True today, as proven by the enthusiastic following Lambdas have worldwide.
Lancia Lambda chassis no. 18.905, is an VIII series example produced in 1928. The car has matching numbers, and the current engine no. 9048 is the original, leaving the Lancia assembly lines on June 12th 1928.
The car with chassis no. 18.905 was found in a barn in Curuzu Cuatia, Corrientes, Argentina, in the late 80’s thru a tip that was given at that time to Mr. Jackie F. Greene.
Owned by the Greene family for over 30 years, this car could not be in better hands for its restauration. The car was bought on August 8th 1988 by Mr. Jackie Forrest Greene, a well-known national classic car expert who was born in a family with a strong Cars heritage. From a young age, Jackie was connected to cars, thanks to his father Eric, was a racer and owner of a workshop that

prepared not only his Maserati 6CM and Bentley 4 1/2, but also preparing cars for other racers.
At the age of 16 years old, Jackie took Integral Mechanics training in Rolls-Royce UK, working for the experimental department and later, he became exclusive representative of Rolls-Royce in Argentina (1947-1951). His lifelong passion for cars is evident in his achievements: founder and president of Classic Cars Club in Argentina (1993-1995), national champion in sport cars in 1961 and runner-up in 1962. He was also Juan Manuel Fangio’s and Jose Froilan Gonzales’ translator for a few years.
In 2021, Greene family sold the Lancia to Mr. Guillermo Alonso, a vintage collector, who carried out a conservative restoration with world-class artisans. Although the car already arrives in excellent conditions, under Mr. Alonso’s lead was presented, for the first time to the FIVA commission. It has first-rate aesthetic characteristics, painted in dark green with black fenders and cognac brown leather interior. This exceptional Lancia Lambda will be a rewarding and elegant companion offering techinal superiority over most of its era, and a driving experience that continues to enthrall many an enthusiast.
